It’s all about the Tarpon, baby. The bite is on and has been for several weeks now. The daytime bite along our coastal beaches has been good to excellent and we’ve still got a couple of weeks until the normal “start” of tarpon season, May 1st. Make sure not to wait and get out after these fish while they are in a good mood with limited pressure.

Night fishing around area bridges and passes is consistent. The full moon earlier this month offered a good bite during the crab and shrimp flush on heavy outgoing tides.

Threadfin herring are the staple forage right now in area passes and beaches. As we move into the full moon in May, crabs will be a primary forage for these weary, silver travelers.

Get out and enjoy what the night and day have to offer here in Southwest Florida!
